Where do I go when I arrive?
Enter through the Children’s Entrance where our greeters will assist you. You will check your child into class using one of the computer kiosks. Your child will wear the printed nametag and the parent keeps the printed security pick-up tag for dismissal. Greeters will assist you in locating your child’s classroom.
Who will care for my child?
Adult and student volunteers staff our Preschool rooms. These individuals possess a love for Jesus and His precious children and have been trained, screened and background checked. Our preschool hallway is locked during service hours for added security.
Are parents required to help in the classroom?
We are blessed with faithful Small Group leaders and helpers who are regularly scheduled throughout the year. However, we may reach out for help from time to time if we are short on a particular Sunday. Parents are always welcome to visit!
How will you reach me if I am needed?
The code on your security pick-up tag will be displayed on the black boxes below the large screens in the sanctuary. A Children’s Ministry Staff Member will meet you to escort you to your child’s classroom.
What happens when I return for my child?
Upon picking up your child, you must sign them out and present the security pick-up tag to the classroom leader. We will not release your child to anyone other than the person who presents your child’s pick-up tag. Lose your tag? You may get a new one at the computer kiosk—a greeter will be happy to assist you.
What will my child do while in your care?
We begin our morning in the Small Group classrooms with play-doh, drawing pages, table toys, carpet toys, etc. Once everyone arrives and settles, we head to the large group “Train Station” room just down the hall where your child will hear the Bible Story, worship and praise God through song and prayer, share their weekly offering, and review the “Bible Basics” each week! We enjoy a visit from our favorite mouse friend “Whiskers” (a puppet, but shhhhh…don’t tell!). Children return to the Small Groups classrooms for review games, activities, crafts, songs and fellowship. Children will also have a snack of graham crackers and water. If your child has allergies, please talk to us. We are happy to accommodate an alternative nut-free snack if needed.
Does my child need to bring anything to church?
We encourage kids to bring a Bible / bag and an offering. Preschool Bibles and bags are available, as well as boxes of offering envelopes. Please ask if you need anything! Children’s Ministry supports two children through Compassion International. We correspond with these children and pray for them every Sunday.
What if my child has special needs?
All children are welcome at Bay Presbyterian Church. Please discuss your child’s specific needs with us so we can work together on behalf of your child. Our Director of Special Needs Ministry would also be happy to meet with you.
What is the wellness policy?
It is our goal to provide a safe, happy and healthy environment for the children we serve. We ask that children with the following symptoms be kept at home until they are symptom free for 24 hours (without medicine): fever greater than 100, unclear runny nose, questionable rash, diarrhea/vomiting, or any contagious condition.
What are the Emergency Evacuation Procedures at BPC?
If the church is evacuated due to fire or another emergency, Children’s Ministry Staff and Group Leaders will evacuate your child. Please wait to pick up your child on the east side of the children’s wing after you have safely exited. EXIT THE BUILDING—PARENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE CHILDREN’S WING DURING AN EVACUATION.
