Where do I go when I arrive?
Enter through the Children’s Entrance where our greeters will assist you. You will check your child into class using one of the computer kiosks. Your child will wear the printed nametag and the parent keeps the printed security pick-up tag for dismissal. Greeters will assist you in locating your child’s classroom. Once in the classroom, you will sign your child in and receive a pager. Please make sure all of your child’s belongings are labeled. Due to allergies, we ask that only water be brought into the Walker/Toddler room.
Who will care for my child?
Paid adult supervisors, adult and student volunteers, and parent helpers staff our Nursery and Toddler rooms. Our supervisors and adult volunteers possess a love for Jesus and His precious children and have been trained, screened and background checked. Our rooms are locked during service hours for added security.
Are parents required to help in the classroom?
Parents are scheduled to volunteer approximately once every 4-6 weeks. In addition to helping us maintain our excellent adult/child ratios, this is an opportunity for parents to make new friends and see firsthand how their child interacts with others and learns on Sunday mornings.
How will you reach me if I am needed?
If we need to contact you during service, we will page you on the pager you received at sign-in. You may also see the code on your security pick-up tag displayed on the black boxes below the large screens in the sanctuary. A Children’s Ministry Staff Member will meet you to escort you to your child’s classroom.
What happens when I return for my child?
Upon picking up your child, you must sign them out, present the security pick-up tag to the classroom leader, and return your pager. We will not release your child to anyone other than the person who presents your child’s pick-up tag. Lose your tag? You may get a new one at the computer kiosk—a greeter will be happy to assist you.
What will my child do while in your care?
Infants will be played with, sung to, and genuinely cared for during the hour they are with us. We have Cheerios on hand in our Infant Nursery. Please let us know if you would not like us to offer them to your child.
In addition to interactive play, our Toddlers are introduced to a Large Group time where they sing songs and hear Bible stories. Toddlers also have a snack of graham crackers and water. If your child has allergies, please talk to us. We are happy to accommodate an alternative nut-free snack if needed.
What if my child has special needs?
All children are welcome at Bay Presbyterian Church. Please discuss your child’s specific needs with us so we can work together on behalf of your child. Our Director of Special Needs Ministry would also be happy to meet with you.
What is the wellness policy?
It is our goal to provide a safe, happy and healthy environment for the children we serve. We ask that children with the following symptoms be kept at home until they are symptom free for 24 hours (without medicine): fever greater than 100, unclear runny nose, questionable rash, diarrhea/vomiting, or any contagious condition.
What are the Emergency Evacuation Procedures at BPC?
If the church is evacuated due to fire or another emergency, Children’s Ministry Staff and Group Leaders will evacuate your child. Please wait to pick up your child on the east side of the children’s wing after you have safely exited. EXIT THE BUILDING—PARENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE CHILDREN’S WING DURING AN EVACUATION.
