The City Mission has an urgent need! It is as easy as picking up the lunches at 1:00 pm on Monday - Friday and transporting them downtown to the kitchen staff!
The Mission has opened our gymnasium on Main Campus to women and children that have nowhere else to go.
You may know that Laura’s Home has been full for over 4 years and we operate off of a waiting list, but now – EVERY shelter in Cleveland is at capacity and there are many families with nowhere to go. This past week we had between 40 – 50 women sleeping at our gym each night.
So we’re providing somewhere for them to go, but also dinner and then breakfast! Because school just started back, I was given a unique donation from a local school (located at 150th and Puritas) – leftover lunches! Therefore, I’ve been picking up daily and taking the meals downtown to Crossroads where they are refrigerated and then warmed for dinner for the families. The new opportunity is just that – picking up the lunches at 1:00 pm on Monday thru Friday and transporting them downtown to the kitchen staff! The whole process can take less than an hour! I’d like to create a monthly schedule so you could do this as often as you’re comfortable with.
