Next Steps:

Does this vote mean we are now "dismissed?" That question has been asked by a number of you.  The answer is "no" - not yet.  We would all agree that a clear declaration of the desires of the congregation is the most important single event in this process.  However, there are a few more steps until dismissal becomes official.  Here is what we anticipate:

  • November 26, 2007 - The Presbytery meets and receives the results of the congregational meeting.  Elders from BPC "testify" to the accuracy of those results.
  • November, 2007 - January 2008 - Negotiating teams of BPC and the Presbytery meet to work on the details of the dismissal - legal issues as well as monetary issues.  Ken Simmons, Ed Moore, Marcia Lowe, and Phil Battershell constitute BPC's team.
  • January, 2008 - Negotiating teams of BPC and the Presbytery were unable to agree on the details of the dismissal.
  • March 31, 2008 - BPC session asks the Presbytery to accept the motion for dismissal.  (see Motion For Dismissal).

Upon the action of the Presbytery and the agreement of the Session with that action, we would then be received into the Evangelical Presbyterian Church's New Wineskins Presbytery.
