ay Presbyterian Church has always been a church on the move.  From its founding in 1912 as a Sunday School for children who couldn’t make the 2-1/2 mile, dirt-road trip to the only church in Bay Village, to its explosive growth as it faithfully ministered to Cleveland’s West Shore communities, to its current call as a leading catalyst for Christ’s redemptive work in Northeast Ohio, Bay Presbyterian Church (BPC) is a suburban church that has never accepted the status quo of suburban life.

Today, through God’s grace, Bay Presbyterian is poised for the next critical step in its Christ-centered witness.  After more than 30 years as BPC’s senior pastor, Hu Auburn will soon retire, leaving behind a unified and focused congregation that is immensely grateful for his years of guidance, yet also ready for the future.

Over the years, one of the defining traits of Bay Presbyterian Church has been its ability to train, equip and inspire its congregation and staff for ministry.  Many of these individuals, once they’ve seen Christ at work first-hand within the church’s walls, have responded in faith by initiating their own ministries both inside and outside BPC—often with the active support of the church itself.  This is truly an empowered congregation. 

It’s our hope that our new senior pastor will not only cherish BPC’s unique entrepreneurial character, but also further develop it through his or her own passion and gifts.  We believe our church will continue to thrive only through the leadership of a person who is totally committed to Christ—one who will teach with joy and authenticity, who will seek and follow God’s will, who will inspire others to surrender to His service, and who will risk all in obedience to Him.
