Community Service Alliance (CSA) serves and supports men coming out of homelessness through training, jobs and housing.  Procop House is CSA’s first housing initiative and is a former convent housing 22 men in transition toward independent living.  It is a place for rest, healing and growth in the spirit as well as a place to gain job readiness and stable living practices.  Bay Bridge has supported Procop House since 2003 – two years before it opened to its first resident!  BPC was the first family of faith to donate to its work on an annual basis.  At first the monies were used for material support to rehab the convent, but as residents moved in, Bay’s support took the form of a room match to pay ½ of the rent for one room for one year.  BPC has brought the love of Christ and his work in the world to the men in the form of 1-1 relationships, Christmas banquets, “spring cleaning” work crews and community meals!

In the 3 years of its operation, Procop House has had over 60 men in residence.  All the men have been richly blessed by the time made available to rest, reflect, plan and get on with their lives in wholesome and productive ways

Vic Carcioppolo Testimony

Last spring, my wife and I ran into an old friend, Jeff Nichols. We exchanged stories of how our lives have changed since pacing the fields watching our children as they participated in sports.

Jeff told me he was Executive Director of CSA. My wife, Susan and I just had returned from a mission trip in the Dominican Republic and had a boundless taste for more sharing stateside. I asked Jeff if there were any volunteer opportunities, “Sure”! Jeff quickly went from a neighbor and friendly father of my son’s friend to one of my best friends and brother in Christ.

I now volunteer at CSA helping in any capacity I am able serving those men in need. I see God working through Jeff, James, and Al. Their patience, concern, unwavering love and compassion are most humbling to me. I have learned to try to be more understanding, be a better listener and to be more giving of the best gift of all, one of the many gifts God gives us…. Time.

I anxiously look forward to the time I spend with the men at Procop House, knowing it molds me and softens my heart. In the end, I feel God smiling as well as the men we encounter.
