Birthday Boxes for Kids Church

Thanks so much for helping us provide Birthday Boxes for the children of the Calvary Kids Church in inner city Cleveland!  These boxes provide a very effective incentive for Kids Church kids to have good attendance.  Over eighty children attend Kids Church each week, some walking long distances. Our kids know that they need to keep coming to stay on our “Birthday Box List”.  And the more they come, the more they will learn about Jesus!

A Birthday Box is an average sized shoebox, wrapped with birthday wrapping paper, with the lid wrapped separately from the bottom.  The box you’re making needs to be turned in any time it’s convenient for you, but no later than the last Sunday of the month prior to your assigned child’s Birthday month, because we hand them out the first Saturday of Kids Church each month. 

Please leave your box in the old (west) building mailbox room, in the Birthday Box Bin on the floor. 

As far as what to put into it or how much to spend, the lists below will give you some ideas. Walgreens or Drug Mart are good resources. We hope every child gets a toothbrush and toothpaste. But beyond that all we ask is that your box look full, that you remember that most of our kids won’t get anything else for their birthday, and that everything you give must fit inside the box. We’ve never dictated a dollar amount to spend.

Please label the box with a post-it note on the lid that says “Happy Birthday (child’s name)!”.
