Bay Presbyterian Church is blessed to have a diverse array of partnerships in the city. If you have wondered what these are all about, CityVentures is an initiative through BPC that provides opportunities for individuals, families, seniors, small groups and intergenerational friends to gather together and serve in the name of Christ.  These are one-time service opportunities that will be held from October to May on the 3rd Saturday of each month (timeframe may vary each month so pay close attention to that!)

       Come once, twice,
       or join the entire
  eight month adventure!

These adventures are meant to be just that…something you go on with an openness to expect the unexpected, to embrace the moment, and to join God in what He is already doing in Cleveland and beyond.

Whenever any of the CityVentures mentions collections, additional specific information on what items BPC will collect ahead of time can be found on the BPC website, or in the “Collections Brochure” in the connector of BPC.

Faith is an adventure, and we hope you step out to join God in what amazing things He is doing in the city!!!

*A SPECIAL NOTE TO PARENTS:  If your children are 4 or 5 and older, most of these opportunities are appropriate for you as a family! It has been said that kids today see their parents serving them and have few, if any, opportunities to serve others.

Remember -
Serving together as a family is one of the Fantastic Four Faith Forming Functions! And- Christ calls us to serve! Save these dates and sign up as a family!

Procop House/Community Service Alliance
Bay Presbyterian Church in The Fallout

James Johnson, Assistant Director of Procop House and Grace Lewis,  “Cooking with Grace,” will provide an overview of the  ministry that occurs at this former convent that now serves as a specialized home for men transitioning out of homelessness. BPC will be collecting kitchen items prior to this time for “Hope Chests” for the men to help them when they start out in their own homes. As a part of this time participants will help sort items for the “Hope Chests” and prepare simple food items that the men will later enjoy.

Bring the family to the Brookside Hunger Center to help sort and package food and clothing for future food distributions and for the thrift shop. WSEM serves as home to three hunger centers on the west side of Cleveland.  Currently over 800 families are served each month through Brookside.

Prior to our visit to Brookside on January 17, we will be collecting non-perishable food items for Brookside and Bay Food Ministry (located right at BPC). Bring donations to the food barrels located in the Narthex and by the Welcome desk or leave them on the rack under the stairs at the main entrance.

Plant a Perennial Garden at Jonny Fine's

Come celebrate spring as we bless the Jonny Fine Family with a perennial garden and barbeque!  Jonny is an urban missionary with City Life for Greater Cleveland Youth for Christ and is a dynamic presence for Christ in the West Side High Schools in Cleveland.  His wife, Liz is moving into being a fulltime stay-at-home mom for their four children starting in June, and she has always wanted a perennial garden.  So plan to bring your garden tools, perennial starts from your own garden (or seed packets that young kids would enjoy watching to grow), and a dish to share for our barbeque.  We'll provide mulch, fertilizer, and all the fixings for hot dogs, and God will provide the sun and rain to make our garden grow!
