2008 BPC Christmas Initiatives Christmas in a Shoebox Angel Tree Interfaith Hospitality Network Hosting CityVenture to Cornerstone Among Women Alternative Fair
Hopefully, you have heard or seen our new logo above for this program year. God calls us to live out our faith in the places and areas of culture we encounter daily. He wants us to proclaim Him, thus redeeming and restoring the people and places where He is already at work. He wants us to be a living testimony so that others will also know Him, the Redeemer and Restorer.
Each month will have a theme. The theme for November and December is God’s Heart for the Poor and the BPC Christmas Initiatives listed below fit perfectly as we ask each of you to think about those children and adults who are struggling and feel it even more so during the Christmas season.
Christmas in a Shoebox
A filled shoebox is small way of showing others God’s love. Thanks for all who picked up a wrapped shoebox to fill. Please return the box filled with goodies by Sunday, November 23. Click here for more information about the Christmas in a Shoebox ministry and for suggested shopping lists for the various age groups.
We are also accepting donations of bulk items such as lotions, candy, gum, gloves, hats, scarves, note pads, pens, hair accessories, Bonne Bell products, or small toys.

CityVenture to Cornerstone Among Women, next to Marc’s at the Midway Mall Saturday, December 13, 2008 10:00 AM-12:00 Noon
Tour Cornerstone Among Women's Elyria location and help with small sorting/organizing projects for the Thrift Shop, a source of ministry and financial support for this ministry that offers hope and compassion to those facing unplanned pregnancies or fertility issues or just trying their best to be a good parent. Cornerstone Among Women demonstrates the love of Christ in real and tangible ways. BPC will be collecting infant and children’s items ahead of time to take with us that day to be used as “Christmas Blessings” for families who have been ministered to by Cornerstone.

Angel Tree
This prison ministry outreach allows parents in prison who have participated in a Bible study to have their children receive gifts at Christmas time. Our congregation serves as “angels” and provides the gifts which are then distributed to the families through a Christmas Party on Sunday, December 7th at West Side UCC, 3800 Bridge Avenue from 2:00-4:00 PM.
Gift tags will be available to take off the AngelTree on Sunday November, 16th, with gifts needing to be wrapped and returned to BPC on or before November 30. Gifts should be valued at no more than $20. Typically we provide gifts to over 150 children.

Alternative Holiday Market
The Alternative Holiday Market will be Sunday,November 23rd 10AM—1PM at Avon Lake Presbyterian (32340 Electric Blvd). This Holiday Market gives people another option to more traditional gift giving by encouraging them to select a ministry and a particular program of that ministry to make a gift ‘in honor of’ of a loved one. The donor receives a description and card about the gift to give the “recipient.” A brochure about the Alternative Market is in the mail rooms on the east and west side of BPC, and in the outreach brochure rack in the connector. If you cannot attend the market but are interested in giving this kind of “gift” you can be an absentee shopper. Just pick up the instructions when you pick up your brochure.
