BPC SMALL GROUPS CENTER THEIR LIFE AROUND 4 PRACTICES
They LOVE JESUS – as they respond to His Word, join together in worship, linger before Him in prayer and faithfully follow Him in all aspects of their lives.
They SHARE LIFE - as they relationally connect to one another both inside and outside their "scheduled meeting" time. They seek to love one another as Christ has loved them.
They WALK ACROSS – as they encourage one another to move from their "comfort zone" and walk across into the world to minister as Jesus would do.
They INVITE OTHERS – as they intentionally build relationships with those who do not have a relationship with Christ and invite them into their circle of Christian community and activities so that their unbelieving friend might become more and more open to the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Some groups may focus more heavily in one of these areas for a given period of time but the most vibrant and effective groups will try and find a balance between all 4 of the practices.
A great way to grow in these 4 practices is to look for a ministry or outreach that you might do together. Look for an area in the world around you that Jesus cares about. This shouldn't be hard - He cares about everything! "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has annointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." (Luke 4:18-19 NRSV) Then decide how your group might minister in that placed together or join in on a project that would benefit a certain group in need. The best thing about such a project is that we are transformed through the process and learn to look a little more like the community Jesus had in mind when he came into the world.
