The following is a response to a Plain Dealer story which was published April 26, 2008. This response was shared at BPC worship services on Sunday, April 27:
"Many of you may have read the article in the Plain Dealer yesterday regarding our dismissal. We are sorry that the article suggests our reason for departure is over homosexuality - obviously we have consistently stated that our reasons pertain largely around the authority of scripture and our Christology - but in our current culture it is not surprising that this is overlooked and the homosexual issue has been focused upon. Continue to be in prayer as we move forward and perhaps even use this as an opportunity as friends and neighbors look at the article to lift up the person of Christ and share what our church feels is essential for Church leaders to believe about Jesus - this might be a springboard for many wonderful conversations to glorify our Lord."
